The Drug Development Process

The drugs we see in the market undergo an extensive research and trials before their entry into market. The time that a drug ca takes to be evolved is approx 15 years with a massive research in these years conducted upon them. The research laid on these drugs before they come into existence is not as easy as we found them hugely floating the market. Time factor is one concern with drug development and Cost incurred in drug development process is other significant aspect. Cost involved in a drug as cheap as $1 per strip is far beyond the imagination of a common man. Even these cheap drugs sustain research of approx $ 90 million and beyond.

The Drug we see in existence has to undergo lots of stages of researches before coming into actual form. First the drug idea in terms of idea is conceptualize and then it enters in to pre clinical testing. Pre-Clinical testing is a stage where drug is tested in laboratories and over animal for its efficacy. Once it clears that stage than it enters the Clinical Trial stage. Clinical Stages comprises of four stages defined with different tasks to be carried on with to testify drug. The Clinical stages are done upon human beings who can be patients or volunteers depending upon on which stage drug is.
